A Traditional Spice
Cinnamon is one of the oldest and most highly valued spices in human history. Its steady popularity as a flavouring for sweet treats continues to this day, and in Asia, for example, cinnamon — and Ceylon cinnamon in particular — plays a central role in all kinds of cooking.
Flavour
Ceylon cinnamon has been praised as unrivalled in taste, and no wonder: its deep, full-bodied and spicy flavour charms in sweet pastries and savoury stews alike.
How to Use
Use cinnamon in baking – add a pinch to cake and pie doughs, frostings, pancakes, buns and berry bakes. An autumnal apple bake, for instance, gets the perfect finishing touch from Ceylon cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is also a delicious addition to warm drinks such as cocoa and turmeric latte, and it can be stirred into tea or coffee as well. In savoury cooking, cinnamon is at its best in slow-simmered Oriental and Mediterranean stews and sauces, as well as in puréed vegetable soups. It also works excellently in marinades alongside hot and salty spices.
