Origin

Originating from South America, the versatile and multi-functional chia seed has gained global popularity. The word “chia” translates to “oily” in ancient aztek.

Use

Chia seeds bind liquid effectively, and many of our customers puff the seeds by soaking them in water before use. Soaked, puffed chia seeds form a gel that can be used as a replacement for eggs in vegan cooking. Puffed seeds are also a filling, delicious ingredient for raw porridges, puddings and smoothies.
