Origin
Coarse crystal salt is over 200 million years old salt, hand-mined in the Himalayan mountains. Because of its beautiful, delicate pinkish colour, crystal salt is also known as rose salt.
Taste and use
In taste, crystal salt is mildly soft and aromatic, wonderfully bringing out the flavour of food. Coarse Himalayan crystal salt is therefore excellent for seasoning sweet treats and baked goods, as well as for use as table salt and in savoury cooking and seasoning. This deliciously soft crystal salt is also worth using in drinks.
Blending tip
For variety, you can try mixing different types of salt together. Combine sea salt with crystal salt and add your favourite spices and dried herbs such as rosemary, basil, thyme, herbes de Provence or pepper.
Production and other uses
Coarse crystal salt is produced under fair conditions in Pakistan. The salt is completely pure and contains no harmful heavy metals or anything else extra. Due to its electrical atomic structure, crystal salt dissolves in water to form an electrically conductive solution. The water–crystal salt mixture is called “sole”, which is naturally sterile and is used in wraps, for exfoliating the skin and for rinsing the nose and mouth. Crystal salt is also a popular ingredient in a neti pot and in steam inhalation with hot water, as well as in cosmetics and various “do-it-yourself” products such as exfoliating scrubs.
