Product and use
Caprylic acid is a coconut oil–based oil containing C8 fatty acid. Thanks to its mild, neutral taste, it is easy to use in a variety of foods and drinks. When you need an extra source of energy, pour a dash into your coffee or cocoa, blend it into a smoothie, or use it in salads and other cold dishes. Caprylic acid can also be used in cooking at temperatures below 160 °C. If caprylic acid is new to you, start with a small amount and follow the instructions on the package.

Caprylic acid or MCT oil?
MCT oil and caprylic acid may not be found in many kitchen cupboards, but both come from familiar coconut oil. The difference is easy to grasp like this: MCT oil is isolated from coconut oil, and caprylic acid from MCT oil. In MCT oil, the C8 and C10 fatty acids have been captured from coconut oil. Caprylic acid is an even simpler version of this, as it contains only C8 fatty acid. Both are colourless oils with a very mild taste, so you can get acquainted with them in a very everyday way: try a small dash in coffee, in a smoothie, or in other cold dishes such as salad.
