Easy-to-Use Tablets
Spirulina tablets are one of Foodin’s most popular green products, and for good reason! They are easy to use and have received plenty of positive feedback, especially thanks to their small size.
Value Pack
If you use larger amounts of spirulina on a regular basis, we recommend choosing this 300-gram value pack.
What Is Spirulina
Spirulina is a microscopic freshwater algae, so not a seaweed. Spirulina grows quickly, which makes its production extremely efficient, and no environmentally burdening pesticides or chemicals are needed to produce it.
Colour and Pigments
Spirulina’s deep, dark green-blue colour comes from the colour pigments it contains, namely chlorophyll. This blue-green microalgae has a spiral-shaped structure, which is naturally where the name spirulina comes from. Spirulina’s strong blue-green colour comes from its rich chlorophyll content as well as from a very rare blue colour pigment, phycocyanin.
History
Historically, two civilisations are known to have consumed plenty of spirulina: the people living in the Mexico City area of Central America, and the peoples living in the Lake Chad region of Africa. Spirulina has existed on Earth practically as long as there has been life here.
