Cooking Uses

The delicious cashew nut is a favourite in both savoury and sweet cooking. Cashews are easy to add to Asian sauces, vegetable stir-fries and stews, and they taste wonderful with chicken dishes and oyster and black bean sauces. Cashews make salads more substantial and rice dishes more full-bodied. In sweet baking, cashews make excellent fillings and decorations for cakes and pastries. Chopped, they can be sprinkled into melted raw chocolate to make delicious cashew chocolate bars or pralines.

Soaking

Soaking multiplies the ways you can use cashew nuts. Soaked cashews are especially well suited for making nut milk, smoothies and overnight oats. Cashews are also used to make cheeses and other cultured products such as yoghurt or quark. The cashew nut often plays a central role as a nutritious building block in a vegan diet. Soak cashews for at least four hours, or preferably overnight, for the best results.
