About the Artichoke
The globe artichoke is a thistle-like plant of the daisy family, originally native to North Africa. The fleshy hearts and bracts of the flower head are eaten as a vegetable, while the leaves are used in phytotherapy. Artichoke leaves contain cynarin, caffeoylquinic acid diesters, and chlorogenic and neochlorogenic acids.
