The hugely popular pH-balance powder from the Pascoe range contains alkaline minerals. The product is based on an alkaline powder blend made according to Dr Sander’s formula, to which alkaline magnesium carbonate has been added.

Background and Recognition

Dr Sander was a German physician and chemist as well as a pioneer in the knowledge of acid-base balance. In 2009, Pascoe pH-balance was chosen as Natural Food Product of the Year. The selection criteria included the extensive positive feedback received from users, the quality and reliability of the product, and the research data behind it.

On Acid-Base Balance

Acidity in the body has many consequences. It is often not realised that excessive acidity in the body is the cause of the symptoms that have appeared, or has significantly contributed to their development. Acidity can be caused by, among other things, a lack of enzymes, a state of stress, diet and lack of exercise. A diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates in particular increases acidity¹. The body strives to regulate the acidity of its fluids very precisely, because a certain acid-base balance in the body is a prerequisite for the effective functioning of all metabolism2. Changes in the body’s pH alter its biochemical structure and function by affecting, for example, the structures of proteins and connective tissues, enzyme activity and membrane permeability. The body’s most important buffer system for acidity is the bicarbonate system.
