Composition
Natura Media’s Vitamin K2 contains 180 µg of stabilised MenaQ7® menaquinone in every capsule. Menaquinone-7, or MK-7, is a highly absorbable and long-acting form of vitamin K2. The MenaQ7® vitamin K2 we use comes from France and is a natural vitamin K2 produced by fermentation. MenaQ7® has the most published clinical studies in its own category – already more than 20.
MK-7 form
Vitamin K2 also occurs in MK-4 and MK-6 forms, but thanks to its molecular composition, the MK-7 form has been found to have the highest absorption and a significantly longer half-life in the body.
Production and suitability
Natura Media’s vitamin K2 capsules are made in our own production facility in Raisio. The product is entirely plant-based, meaning it is also suitable for a vegan diet. Although natto, i.e. fermented soybeans, is a dietary source of vitamin K2, no soy is used in the natural fermentation process of MenaQ7® menaquinone-7. The capsules also contain no other common allergens such as gluten, cereals, nuts, egg or milk.
What are K vitamins?
K vitamins are a group of vitamins – not just a single vitamin, as was once thought. Today it is known that these fat-soluble vitamins have different areas of action in the body. The two most important forms of K vitamins are vitamin K1 (phylloquinones) and vitamin K2 (menaquinones).
