What is ubiquinol
Ubiquinol is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance and a key coenzyme in the formation of ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, which takes place in the cells’ energy production centres (the mitochondria), thus directly affecting cellular energy production.
Active form
Ubiquinol is the active form of ubiquinone, and so both of these substances are the same coenzyme Q10 in its different forms. In our body, more than 90 per cent of coenzyme Q10 is present as ubiquinol. From a food supplement, ubiquinol is easily absorbed and is immediately available to the cells as such for energy production, without enzyme activity being needed to convert it into the active form. This is also why ubiquinol takes effect quickly.
Ageing
The body’s ability to produce ubiquinone and to convert it into its active, reduced form, ubiquinol, declines with age.
Kaneka Ubiquinol™
The Japanese company Kaneka is the world’s best-known and most trusted manufacturer of ubiquinone and ubiquinol, having researched and developed the production of ubiquinone and ubiquinol for more than 40 years. In producing ubiquinol, Kaneka uses its own special technique to protect ubiquinol, which oxidises easily, so that it does not turn into ubiquinone. This method yields a composition that corresponds to the human body’s own coenzyme Q10. Ubicaps® Ubiquinol 100 mg + C capsules contain stabilised powdered P30 Kaneka Ubiquinol™ ubiquinol, which is absorbed at least as effectively as oil-based ubiquinol.
Who it’s for
The product is particularly beneficial for older people, athletes, those who feel tired, and others whose own ubiquinone production has declined or who are unable to utilise ubiquinone, for example due to impaired absorption or reduced enzyme activity.
