Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is native to the Mediterranean region.

Active compounds

The plant’s active compounds are found in the milk thistle seeds: six different flavonolignans, whose mixture is called silymarin. One Liverin® tablet contains 200 mg of milk thistle seed extract, of which 160 mg is silymarin. 200 mg of extract corresponds to 5000 mg of dried milk thistle seeds.
