Bioteekki Vegan Omega-3 contains high levels of EPA and DHA fatty acids. The plant-based fatty acids are sourced from algae. Getting enough good fatty acids is important for all of us. *The product is the same as Omnivegan, only the name has changed. Products with the new name will gradually replace the previous ones.

Essential fatty acids

The fatty acids essential for humans are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) (an omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid). Under optimal conditions, the body can produce all the fatty acids it needs from these.

Fatty acids in plant-based diets

Vegans get good fatty acids from nuts and seeds as well as vegetable oils, for example. In these foods, the omega-3 fatty acid is alpha-linolenic acid in its basic form, and the body has to convert it into the longer-chain fatty acids EPA and DHA.
