A dietary supplement made in Finland, containing the amino acid L-theanine. L-theanine occurs naturally in green tea. Bioteekki L-theanine 100 mg is a sustained-release amino acid supplement in an easy-to-swallow tablet. The product is also suitable for vegans.

Taking amino acids

Amino acids used as dietary supplements are taken on an empty stomach so that their absorption is as efficient as possible and they do not have to compete with the amino acids from food for transport into the cells.

What amino acids are

The human body contains over 100,000 proteins in total, and amino acids are their small “building blocks”. All human proteins are built from just 20 amino acids, 11 of which the body can produce itself, while the remaining 9 must be obtained daily from food or dietary supplements. The diet should be varied enough to ensure a daily intake of the essential amino acids. A mixed diet secures the intake of amino acids best, but by combining plant-based proteins (legumes, seeds, nuts, grain products) in a varied way every day, the intake of essential amino acids can also be ensured.
