Lysine is an essential amino acid for humans and must be obtained from food. Made in Finland, Bioteekki L-Lysine 500 mg is an easy-to-swallow tablet. The product is also suitable for vegans.

When to take

Amino acids used as dietary supplements are taken on an empty stomach so that they are absorbed as efficiently as possible and do not have to compete with the amino acids that come with food for transport into the cells.

What amino acids are

The human body contains over 100,000 proteins in total, and amino acids are their small “building blocks”. All human proteins are built from just 20 amino acids, 11 of which the body can produce itself, while the remaining 9 must be obtained daily from food or dietary supplements. The diet should be varied enough to secure a daily intake of the essential amino acids. A mixed diet secures the intake of amino acids best, but by combining plant-based proteins (legumes, seeds, nuts, grain products) in a varied way every day, the intake of essential amino acids can also be secured.
