Origin Matters

IS CHINESE NATTOKINASE THE SAME THING AS JAPANESE? Most often it is not. Producing and isolating genuine nattokinase is a demanding and expensive process. That is why many nattokinase products coming from China actually contain, either partly or entirely, different enzymes than those claimed.

Availability In Finland

WHY HASN’T NATTOKINASE BEEN AVAILABLE IN FINLAND IF IT IS SO EFFECTIVE? For the same reason that many other effective products are “banned” here. The reason is the EU novel food regulation, which requires that all products that are new from a European perspective must go through the EU’s supervising safety authority (EFSA). Passing this screening is not a given, and many products never make it to the market. NSK-SD Nattokinase passed EFSA’s product safety screening in 2017, after which it has been available for sale in the EU.
