Coral as calcium source
Calcium is a mineral that is important for the human body in many ways. One of the natural sources of calcium is coral, which also contains numerous other trace elements. This makes it an ideal and at the same time versatile source of calcium.
Coral facts
Reef-building coral consists of a calcareous skeleton and countless polyps only a few millimetres in size. These coral animals, which resemble tiny sea anemones, take calcium from seawater and use it to build a “home” for the colony – a calcareous and typically branching structure known as coral.
Polyps and algae
The polyps live in symbiosis with the single-celled algae inside them. The beautiful colours of corals are thanks to these algae, as the polyps themselves are more or less transparent. Through photosynthesis, the algal cells produce a significant part of the polyps’ nutrition, and in addition the polyps use their stinging tentacles to catch microorganisms drifting in the sea.
Coral MAX™ coral calcium
Coral MAX™, the coral calcium used in Coral Calcium capsules, is made from naturally fossilised corals, the use of which does not harm living coral reefs or marine nature.
